June 2021 Update
Dear Scout Friends,
Summer is here and that means camping season! I hope you and your Scouts are able to do some camping this summer and get back into the “great outdoors” as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. As we move into this summer season, I scheduled a virtual meeting later this month to give an orientation on the various religious awards. Details for registering for this orientation are posted below.
I am also reposting last month’s information about the Ad Altare Dei class being hosted in Springfield. I can host these classes in other parts of the diocese, too. Or if you would like to be trained as a counselor, I’ll be happy to schedule that with you as well.
And attached is a working draft of the handbook that I mentioned in previous communication. This document is still a work in progress as I found a larger guide from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting that I need to review to see what other details need to be included in the diocesan version of this resource. The policies and procedures noted in this draft are current, however. So there is good information that will remain in the next revision.
Yours in Scouting,
Chair, Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting
