Catholic Committee on Scouting update for May

May 2021 Update
Dear Scout Friends,
This month’s big project for the Catholic Committee on Scouting is creating a resource for parishes so they have a better understanding of how to work with BSA units chartered by that parish. This parish guide is intended to offer operational and programmatic guidance to pastors and administrators who choose to charter Boy Scouts of America units at their parishes so that our parish communities can be a strong source of encouragement and support for a Scout’s Duty to God and so that our Boy Scouts of America units can be more fully integrated into the life and mission of the parish.
This project grew from a simple letter that explained to pastors that have BSA units chartered in their parishes some of the insurance questions that come up periodically. My hope is to have a comprehensive guide that pastors and parish leaders can refer to so they understand how BSA units are official parish organizations and what that means administratively. If you have suggestions on topics that should be included in this guide, please let me know.
In other news, committee meetings and emblems classes are scheduled to resume in August! Details below.

Workbooks for Religious Emblems
It has come to the attention of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting that some Scouts are having trouble obtaining Religious Emblem workbooks due to low supply in their local Scout Shops. Please share with your units and contacts that all Catholic Religious Emblem workbooks are available directly from NCCS through the on-line store:
. Prices are the same as in the Scout Shop and shipping is quick.
